This year (so far!), I’m proud to say that I’ve got another four weddings booked and three to four portrait sessions booked as well! And needless to say how many nature and event outings to also attend!

And with all these events and happenings, I’m pleased to say I upgraded my equipment. I was fortunate enough to raise the funds to purchase a Canon EOS 40D dSLR with a fantastic 28-128mm lens! (I had to endure six hours in the cold at Future Shop to obtain this new camera, but it was completely worth it!)
I can now say with full confidence that I will now travel to every scheduled photo shoot with two excellent cameras (the 40D as well as the 20D) and a variety of Canon lenses. You just never know when something might happen to your primary camera!

I would also like to remind anyone reading this to keep in mind: I am available last minute and can work within any budget! Our website is currently under construction, but I have created a Contact section if you have any questions, concerns or comments! We welcome them all

I must admit I’ve only shot portraits once before in the winter! I’m really happy with the way these photos turned out. Unfortunately, my couple were not that happy with their expressions. It must have been the brittle air surrounding them! I was even finding it hard to smile

Robin’s Nest: Scrap out loud

On my drive home from work last night, I just couldn’t pass up capturing at least a few images of the glorious sunset. The sky was lit up in every colour - blues, reds, oranges, yellows… it was like a giant wave of fire. I’m still amazed at what my camera captured… talk about being in the right place and the most excellent time.

Two years ago I discovered JPG and signed up as a member. This year, I finally subscribed to the magazine, and I’m very glad I did! It’s a magazine filled with images and photographs taken by people like you and me, all around the globe. At this time, no Canadian stores sell the magazine. You’ll have to get a subscription like me (and be guaranteed to not miss one of the six issues per year!)
On the website you can upload images and enter them into the various themes for voting. If you’ve gotten enough votes, JPG may publish your photo! With that, they’ll send you $100 and a year subscription. Awesome!

I finally uploaded a few images, and I’ve got one up for votes in for the “Zen” theme. (The box in the top corner of this blog is also a link to the voting page).

It’s a great way to gain exposure for your images - don’t keep those beautiful photos locked away on your computer - get them out there into the light! And perhaps, an issue of JPG!

My cousin brought a pointsettia plant to my parents last weekend. Since the sun was still out when I went to visit them, I was able to utilize that natural light to capture a few images. This star was dancing atop the plant, and against the snowy background, it really pops.
I’ve found I really like Christmas decorations this year, but just for shooting photographs of them! My husband & I really only have a tree as a decoration in our home. Decorations are pretty to look at, some of them sparkle and are just a reminder of what a beautiful time of year this really is, despite the cold weather.
